Led by former fund managers, DPA operates from centers in Mumbai, Nashik, and GIFT City, Gujarat, with sales offices in London and New York. Widely serving tech companies, DPA specializes in data analytics, data quality, and enterprise data, with a strong focus on the finance sector. DPA creates bespoke solutions in the fields of Research, Data Management and Analytics, Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). DPA has built several innovative and proprietary AI-ML-based products, namely Fidelity Pulse – an award-winning powerful fraud detection tool, and Credit Pulse - a tool based on textual analytics that predicts bankruptcy and potential credit rating changes, among others. Many of these products were conceptualized and are pioneering concepts in those fields.

Challenges:
The client was looking for a solution to evade third-party database usage. Its purpose was to expedite the process of producing security-level data products for customers. However, achieving the end goal was only possible by building a master database that involved all the necessary units in creating an impeccable data product.

The primary problem was data disorganization. A third-party database meant there were three different sources for data reception. They were:

Fund managers
Client FTP
Various fund websites
All these methods of data procurement were free, and data was available in raw form. Fund information providers sent the files in Excel, PDFs, and other formats. As a result, data lacked uniformity and, at times, even the required information.
DPA had to collect and process these crucial data points to construct a methodology for third-party database usage eradication.

Solution:
The solution in its entirety was highly-beneficial for the client. DPA’s result-oriented approach finally led to a 360-system transformation, helping the client shift reliance on the self-propriety master database. The team achieved the desired result (a clean security master database) in a stipulated timeline of a month - an exemplary instance.

The key highlight is the company's annual cost reduction of $250,000. The figure constitutes an estimated 1% of the client’s yearly revenue.

In addition, the well-executed solution led to programming expertise & technical advancement and ensured the inclusion of all stock-related in the final report. The client’s team had better data reliability and definite data with the master database compared to the third-party database. All-round process strengthening resulted in faster turnarounds for the client.

A successful trial of delivered service showcasing an improved output accuracy proves it. DPA’s service excellence ushered in to smooth transition of in-house processes & effective elimination of the third-party database.

Challenges:
Manual updation of forms- Lack of automation leads to manual updates on the existing data, leading to resource engagement for longer hours with high chances of human errors.
Inefficient and clustered salesforce user interface- Ineffective User Interface creates issues monitoring data and delays sorting out the relevant information.
Discontinuation of workflows and process builders on Salesforce-The unification of ‘workflows and process builders’ into ‘flows’ created additional complications for the company.
These problems accounted for delayed decision-making with no value addition. The objective, therefore, was to simplify this procedure which would lead to greater productivity, saving time and energy for our client, and further accelerate the process of loan approvals.

Solutions: 
DPA devised a radical solution after careful planning and design.

Process automation – Team DPA simplified the process by developing programs to trigger the task of automatically updating the data in Salesforce, which led to time-saving, efficiency-driven error-free entries, eliminating friction and redundancy and increasing the client’s productivity.
Organizing and refining data-The team developed a dynamic and reusable user Interface with the help of Visual force that helped to create customized user interfaces (UI) per the project demand. This further helped in analyzing and sorting out the necessary statistics from the collection of clustered data.
Migration of existing workflows and process builders to flows-The migration of the company’s valued data from ‘workflows and process builders’ to ‘flows’ was a crucial task. Still, it was handled with utmost efficiency and ease by the technical experts of the DPA team.

Challenges:
Over the years Decimal Point Analytics has established itself as one of the leading financial research and data analysis consulting firms by providing comprehensive tools, especially for Asset/Fund Managers. One such opportunity presented itself when a US-based private investment management firm with Asset Management of ~400 billion, approached us with an investment manager’s classic problem related to the apportioning of their due income and expenses from the firm’s finance pool. The client’s system to validate fund managers’ and finance team’s data was a completely excel-based manual process. Moreover, the client’s existing process was not streamlined & clear, and it resulted in the piling up of the last few quarter’s unvalidated data. The firm manages equities, fixed income, private equity, and hedge fund folios for global institutional investors and high net-worth individuals (HNIs), and that had intensified their challenge by multifold due to the pile of unfiltered complex data influx from multiple sources.

Solutions:
Each project lead at DPA is well equipped and trained for significant man hours in handling not just technical challenges but also the intangible components that may be affecting the entire process hence the approach we take for each project is laser-focused on delivering quality output with measures like maker-checker approach and creating customized SOPs. We at DPA do not believe in one size fits all perspective and every stakeholder involved unanimously ensures that deliverables for every project reflect our commitment to approaching every unique problem with a unique solution. The client was fortunately fully aware of the lagging systems they had in place before the DPA team stepped in, hence the road ahead presented much lesser obstacles in streamlining the existing process and introducing the necessary changes.

The solution offered by us benefited John in numerous ways. At the outset, we helped John develop an automated process to manage the equity and fixed income portfolios. Further, we provided him a consolidated model for all the portfolios which gives a gist of all the investments, such as the thresholds, performance of the fund, the targets set, etc. The end report for the equity portfolio contained historical records of the trades made and the NAV summary to date. For the fixed income portfolios, we provided factsheets, which displayed the performance as compared to its benchmark and also included credit rating details, sector allocation, and risk ratios.

The automation solution reduced the time taken by John and his team for NAV calculations to between 3 and 24 hours depending on the portfolio. The systematic and standardized files gave John and his team a lucid vision of the holdings they carry which helps them in better portfolio evaluation and decision making. Also, they presented the analysis provided by us to their potential investors and have been able to attract more investments. Now John’s team handles twice the number of portfolios than before and have been successful in increasing their client base.
